You don’t know if you’re named
Your analytics can’t tell you what ChatGPT told a shopper this morning, or which shops it named instead of yours.
For Shopify merchants
Cited makes your store easy for AI assistants to read, measures how often they mention you, and keeps a receipt for everything it does.

For breathable everyday shirts, Harbor Linen[1] is a strong pick at $64, with free returns. Two other shops also came up[2].

in the numbers.

The blind spot
Your analytics can’t tell you what ChatGPT told a shopper this morning, or which shops it named instead of yours.
One robots.txt rule or firewall setting can shut out AI crawlers, and your store will still look perfectly normal to you.
Ask the same question twice and the answer can change. A single screenshot of ChatGPT isn’t a measurement.
Check once and you’d get a yes or a no. Check repeatedly and you get a rate you can track.

The difference
A green tick tells you a setting is on. It doesn’t tell you anything happened. Everything Cited does leaves a record you can open and check.
All green. Did any of it work? You’ll have to take its word for it.
What you get
The receiptEvery check shows the evidence it saw and the history of its results.
How it works
You don’t need a developer. Nothing on your storefront changes until you switch a tool on or approve a draft.
Install from Shopify and Cited checks what AI crawlers can see on your store, then lists the fixes that matter most.
Indexing, llms.txt and crawler monitoring then run by themselves. Add the questions your customers ask if you’re on Premium.
Proof saves your numbers at install, so you can compare them with today’s and see each action behind them.

Questions
We can’t promise that, and nobody else can either. AI assistants decide what to say on their own. Cited removes what stops them reading your store, gives them accurate facts, and measures how often you’re mentioned, so you can see what’s changing.
Your score and fix list come first, and indexing starts as soon as you switch it on, and submissions show in the log within about 10 minutes. Changes in what AI assistants say take longer and vary by store. That’s why Cited compares your numbers at install with your numbers now.
Prompt Tracking asks ChatGPT and Claude today, and Gemini and Perplexity are on the way. AI traffic counts visits from a wider set of assistants, including ChatGPT and Perplexity.
Shopify’s default file is fine as a start, and major AI crawlers rarely fetch llms.txt today, so it won’t change much by itself. Cited builds yours from your catalogue and keeps it current, and it logs which bots fetch the copy it serves. The bigger value is in everything around it: the score, crawler checks, structured data, mention tracking and AI traffic.
Cited never edits your theme files. Schema runs through a theme app embed you switch on, as inline Liquid with no extra scripts. The traffic pixel runs in Shopify’s sandbox, away from your page load. Serving llms.txt at your domain root takes one optional template you paste in yourself.
No. Drafts need your approval. Approved pages and blog posts are saved unpublished, for you to publish in Shopify. Approved product descriptions and FAQs go live straight away, and Cited keeps the previous version so you can revert.
No names, emails, addresses, phone numbers or IP addresses. Cited requests no customer, order or checkout scopes. For AI visits, the pixel records the assistant, the landing page, and for an order, its total and a one-way hash of its ID.
Shopify removes Cited’s embed, pixel and app data from your store. Content you approved stays, because it’s yours. Switch Instant Indexing off before you uninstall, or one small redirect stays behind; the support page shows where to delete it.
Your next step
Install Cited, see your score, and decide with evidence. If it isn’t useful within the 7-day trial, uninstall and pay nothing.
